BIOGRAPHY

Jaime M. DeWees is a skilled trial lawyer with years of experience in state and federal courts across Texas and nationwide. She meticulously researches the facts and develops effective case strategies to advocate for clients in pretrial negotiations, jury and bench trials, and legal appeals. Jaime excels at telling her clients’ stories at trial in a cohesive, memorable way and takes pride in being the voice for otherwise voiceless victims of negligence.

Jaime spent nearly a decade representing plaintiffs in complex business lawsuits and commercial arbitrations before joining Hamilton Wingo to represent individuals and families seeking justice. She previously counseled businesses on risk mitigation and fostering safe and supportive company policies. In her litigation practice, she draws on this experience to establish legal responsibility for harm caused by companies in our communities.

Jaime is passionate about helping people who have suffered because of someone else’s negligence, carelessness, or intentional bad acts. One example is when she represented an elderly couple after they lost their life savings in a real estate investment that was grossly misrepresented in bad faith by a crooked seller. At the end of a federal trial involving claims for fraud and breach of contract, the jury found in favor of Jaime’s clients and awarded them a multimillion-dollar verdict. The jury’s award was fully affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Jaime has earned selections on the annual Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list since 2020 for her work in civil lawsuits. She has been named in The Best Lawyers in America One’s to Watch list for her work based on nominations from other lawyers.

Away from the office, Jaime enjoys spending time with her family while doing something fun outside, like yoga or walking their dog. Jaime is a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Beyond-School-Walls Program and enjoys many informal mentoring relationships with local law students at the SMU Dedman School of Law and UNT Dallas College of Law. She is co-chair of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Bolton Ball Committee and an active member of the Dallas Bar Association.
